At the Puppet Theatre Museum a wonderful world of theatre opens up, where everyone can choose whether to participate or be an observer.
At the Puppet Theatre Museum, it is possible to journey through the history of Estonian puppet theatre art, listen to the life and creative story of the first artistic director of the Puppet Theatre, Ferdinand Veike, do theatrical work and be an actor. In the museum, you can play on various small stages and develop your creativity and expressive skills.
The permanent exhibition of the Puppet Theatre Museum takes you back in time to 1952, when the Estonian Republican Puppet Theatre was founded (now the Estonian Youth Theatre). The exhibition tells the story of the Puppet Theatre's 70 years of activities at the corner of Laia Street in Tallinn, showcasing highlights from its history from the 1950s until the end of the 2010s. The second part of the permanent exhibition introduces various types of puppets, allowing for play with table puppets, stick puppets, hand puppets, and marionettes. Additionally, visitors can listen to the life and creative story of Ferdinand Veike and see rare footage of the people and productions of the Puppet Theatre. A true flight of fantasy begins by walking above a 7-meter puppet head.
The purpose of the Puppet Theatre Museum is to introduce everything that is created and done in theatre and to offer additional teaching methods by presenting puppet thinking as a means of self-development.
