PROTO avastustehas has undergone the biggest makeover in its history, and from 5 May visitors are welcomed by a completely new second floor where the line between science, technology and fantasy disappears. If you have visited PROTO before, now is the perfect time to come back – new exhibits, new experiences and even more discovery await!
PROTO is Europe’s first educational discovery centre based on virtual reality, where inventions from centuries ago come to life thanks to modern technology. Here, exhibits are not viewed from a distance – everything is designed so you can try, discover and experience it yourself. At PROTO, there are no signs saying “Please do not touch” – here, hands-on interaction is practically a must.
In the renewed exhibition, you can guide laser beams through a mirror maze, set a steam locomotive model in motion, discover the invisible world with a microscope, experiment with optical illusions, and see how science becomes playful and exciting. In addition, visitors are welcomed by a brand new 5D cinema “Journey to the Earth's Core”, where virtual reality, moving cinema seats and special effects take you on an adventure deep into the heart of the Earth. The 5D cinema is included in the price of the PROTO admission ticket.
Virtual reality experiences take you to the era when inventions that changed the world were just being born. With VR glasses, you can move around an entirely new world in 360 degrees and experience inventions in a way that would not be possible in everyday life.
PROTO is perfect for the whole family – there is plenty of discovery and excitement here for both young explorers and technology enthusiasts. Younger visitors are welcomed by a separate children’s area, where they can build, experiment, play with air cannons and discover the world through smart and educational activities.
In addition, PROTO offers opportunities to host different events in the historic foundry of Noblessner, and the entire centre has been designed so that visitors with special needs can also enjoy the discovery experience.
